We are going from Changi airport (green square) to our hotel by Dhoby Ghaut (red square). The airport has his own metro station To my big surprice the train does not go stright to town, You need to change at Tanah Merah (black square). Here comes the train up to the ground to a good shadowfull station. The time is 6:30 a.m., and the temperature is on its way to 30 degrees.

We take a look to the left and to the right to get an impression of the habitations.

The train to which we change is very long. Inside, you canīt see from one end to another. You can pass along all the way through the train.

Near the city the train climbs again under the ground. I wait to take a picture untill the platform is almost empty to show the length.

We have reached the interchange station City Hall where the green and the red line cross. Everything is well organised, the tickets are cheep, announcement boards are everywhere and the surroundings are clean.

UPS! here is the reason why everywhere is clean. A Singapore$ costs about 40 U.K. Shilling. We have heard that chewing gum is forbidden, but this!

A typicall metro station seen from outside.

The station is named Tanjong Pagar.

We deliver our baggage in a hurry on the hotel and run out in the city. We are going to find the old railway station with narrow gauged tracks from the colonial time. To continue, click here
