We have our hotel in Phuket, Thailand, but we have ordered from home a 3-days trip to Bangkok. We want to visit The River Kwai Bridge and The Death Raliway.

The Death Railway was a strategic railway built between Thailand and Burma. It was 415 vkms. long- 303 in Thailand and 112 in Burma, and passed through the Three Pagoda Pass in the northern part of the Kanchanaburi Province.
Construction was began on September 16. 1942 by app. 30000 prisoners from England, America, Holland and Australia, and more than 200000 impressed labourers from India, China,Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Burma and Thailand. Of these, more then 16000 prisoners ans 100000 impressed labourers died of many diseasers, due to starvation and lack of medical equipment. It is said that it would take more than five years to build the railway line, but the Japanese army forced the work, so the line was completed 25 December 1943.

We are coming to the bridge on a boat. The rounded sektions are the original. You could make such a bridge for Your garden railway.Vi kommer frem til broen fra floden.

The souvenirdealers has opened their stalls, and the train is half an hour late,

so we have time to walk on the bridge.
